Quick answer: the best DJs to see after Kettama at History on Friday, October 30 are Iglesias, Nathan Barato and Kiinjo, who headline Premier Music Group's Halloween Special at Mooi Space, 75 Pelham Ave in the Junction. It runs until 3 AM, tickets start at $20, and it's the late-night house option closest to Kettama's sound that Friday. It isn't affiliated with the Kettama show, and no official Kettama after party has been announced.

What Kettama fans are looking for

Kettama plays History, 1663 Queen St E, on October 30 and 31, with shows from 8 PM. His sets are fast and rave-driven, pulling from house, techno, hard house and UK garage. History runs on a concert schedule, so if you want more of that energy after his set, you need a room that goes late and books DJs with the same focus on drums and groove.

No one on Friday's late-night bill plays UK garage the way Kettama does. The closest match is percussion-heavy tech house, and that's what Room 1 at the Halloween Special is built around.

1. Iglesias (UK, hybrid live set)

If one set gets you from History to the Junction, it's this one. Iglesias is a UK tech house producer known for rolling, percussion-led drums with classic disco touches. He has multiple Beatport #1s, regular spots in the Beatport Top 100, and releases on Solid Grooves, Hottrax, Elrow, Mindshake, Moon Harbour and Of Unsound Mind. In Toronto he plays a hybrid live set, which means his own tracks are rebuilt on the night with live elements, not just played as finished files.

Why Kettama fans will like it: it's the most driving, drum-first set on the bill, and the closest in energy to a Kettama peak.

More on him in our Iglesias in Toronto guide.

2. Nathan Barato (Toronto)

Nathan Barato shares the Room 1 headline. He has been part of Toronto's underground for more than 15 years, with releases on Hot Creations, Hottrax, Defected, Rekids, Saved Records, Relief and Elrow Music, and he runs the Toronto label RAWthentic with Carlo Lio. His records are stripped-back club music: groove first, very little decoration.

Why Kettama fans will like it: it's a hometown headliner on the same labels as Iglesias, with a rougher, more underground edge.

3. Kiinjo (Toronto, vinyl hybrid)

Kiinjo is the house project of Canadian producer Grandtheft, and he headlines Room 2, the 200-capacity vinyl hybrid room. His sound is sample-heavy and disco-influenced, with a nod to French Touch, Armand Van Helden and Masters at Work. He has released on Higher Ground, Nervous Records and Club Sweat, with support from Purple Disco Machine and The Magician.

Why Kettama fans will like it: it's the warmer, groovier side of house, and a good room to come down in at 2 AM after the main floor.

Seeing Kettama on Saturday instead?

The Halloween Special is Friday only. After Kettama's second show on Saturday, October 31, the big-name option is Kaskade at REBEL, 11 Polson St in the Port Lands (doors 10 PM, 19+). It's melodic, vocal house in a big room, a different mood from Kettama. Clocks fall back at 2 AM on Sunday, so Saturday night runs an hour longer.

Getting from History to the Junction

It's about 25 minutes west by car; use 75 Pelham Ave as the drop-off. By TTC, take the 22 Coxwell bus to Coxwell station, Line 2 west to Dundas West, then walk about 15 minutes. That only works before the subway stops around 2 AM. The cheapest Halloween Special ticket is the $20 entry-before-11 PM tier, so leave History by about 10:15 PM by car if you want it.
